Dr. Chris Kavanagh is a highly esteemed optometrist known for his exceptional academic achievements and dedication to providing comprehensive eye care. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry and Cell Biology with Honors from the University of California at San Diego before obtaining his Doctorate of Optometry degree at the University of California at Berkeley in 1991, where he graduated in the top 1% of his class.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kavanagh has undergone extensive clinical training in prestigious hospital-based settings, including the Palo Alto Blind Rehabilitation Center and the San Francisco Veteran's Administration Medical Centers. This diverse training has equipped him with the expertise to manage a wide range of eye-related conditions, with particular interests in contact lenses, environmental-related vision stress, and the management of chronic conditions such as dry eye disease, diabetes, and glaucoma.
In 1999, Dr. Kavanagh joined the Milpitas Optometric Group, driven by his desire to practice in a family-friendly environment that emphasizes preventative eye care. His commitment to excellence has been recognized by the community, with readers of the Milpitas Post twice voting him as the Best Optometrist in their area. Additionally, he was honored as Optometrist of the Year by the Santa Clara County Optometric Society in 2012.
Dr. Kavanagh is an active member of both the California and American Optometric Associations, and he has served as President for the Santa Clara County Optometric Society, demonstrating his leadership within the profession.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Kavanagh enjoys pursuing his hobbies and spending quality time with his family. He is an avid golfer and also enjoys traveling and camping with his wife and two working age children.
